Individuals

Familial, societal and cultural events, structures and relationships shape us. We develop skills and strengths to some degree or other through them, as well as wounds and unhelpful patterns of behaviour, all of which affect how we relate to people, our environment and life events. We weave these threads into everything we do and every interaction we have, for better or for worse.

When you find yourself in a difficult time, choosing to seek support to reflect can shed light on how you're coping, what you need, and if old patterns are contributing to the situation. We all need support sometimes to see what's happening and help make different and more nourishing choices.

Together we’ll give time and space to what is going on in you, in your life. We will begin with establishing our connection and exploring what you are bringing. I'll support you to build resilience to feel both pleasant and challenging feelings, to digest and integrate what's helpful and let go of what is not. I'll support you to build self-compassion that nurtures and soothes you, and takes action where needed.  We can also give attention to what comes up in our relationship, as this can be a useful mirror of what happens in your life.

Common themes I work with:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Not knowing what you're feeling and wanting, whether you feel full of feeling and ideas, or numb

  • Befriending different parts of yourself

  • Struggling to take action toward what you want

  • Finding depth, connection and meaning

  • Shame - feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness

  • Loss and grief

  • Anger - shifting inhibited and ineffective anger

  • Loneliness and aloneness, belonging and not belonging

  • Relationships - power and powerlessness, effective communication, repeating patterns - see the couples page for more information

  • Life transitions - changes and losses in families, relationships, home, work and health

  • Building self-acceptance, trust, compassion and resilience

If your inner work and growth is a spiritual and political path, it can be essential to have times of one to one support, to have an ally when you come to more challenging terrains. We can explore how you live, how you weave and stand your ground whilst staying connected to your authentic feelings, desires and needs.

We will work toward full inclusion - diversity, even of those things we tend to think are wrong and bad, both in ourselves and others. Reality is solid ground and sometimes hard won. It takes honesty, compassion and courage to accept yourself and others fully, to accept how things are and were, to speak up for and act on what matters to you.

All of this we do in the context of a culture of fierce consumerism, that pushes avoidance, individualism, exploitation and silence rather than presence, depth, caring interdependence and the active challenging of outdated power structures. We are in a time of deep planetary and global stress, change, uncertainty and information overload which is very challenging to live in and through. This work then is a form of activism and resistance, it is rich and endless and full of beauty, gratitude and anger and grief and nourishes the soul.

I work indoors or out. Walking and being outside can be helpful to the process through the nourishment of rhythm, in the body and seasons, beauty, connection with the elements and non-human life and taking your place in a bigger context and physical space.
